Give A Man A Fish, He Eats For A Day, Teach A Man To Fish, He Sells All The Fish And Buys The Materials To Build A Model Of Our Solar System.

On Wednesday I set 3 goals for myself to achieve. The 3 goals were
1. I must learn how to make the motors spin the metal rods
2. I must make a list of items I need for Monday
3. I must continue taking notes

Unfortunately I only achieved 1 of these goals and the only goal that I achieved was making a list of items I need for Monday. The reason  why that was the only goal I achieved is because I was to focused on making a list of items I needed for Monday that I forgot to research how to make the motors spin the metal rods. I rate my self an 8/10 this week because I managed to find a completely new Genius Hour project and in my opinion I managed to get a good amount of work done research wise even though I couldn't figure out how to make the motors spin the metal rods. Overall I feel pretty good with the decision I made to change my Genius Hour project and I'm looking forward to making my model.

So there were a lot of flaws with my first Genius Hour project which was making a robot and because of those flaws I've decided to change my Genius Hour project completely, now my Genius Hour project is to build a model of our solar system which show the orbit speed and the orbit course of the planets in our solar systems. Just like before I have set 3 goals for me to achieve.

1. Find a new Genius Hour project
2. Gain more information on that project (have an idea of what the end product will look like)
3. Take notes on the project

I have achieved all these goals because I found a new Genius Hour project, I got a basic idea of what my end product will look like and I took note while doing it.

If you couldn't tell, this is my first Genius Hour blog and since this is my first Genius Hour blog that means I have already had my first official Genius Hour work day. Before our work day, I came up with three goals for myself to achieve during our work time. The three goals were

  1. Draw a draft of my end product
  2. Find the material for my project
  3. Gain info on how to build my robot
I'm happy that I achieved 2/3 goals that I set for myself. The two goals that I achieved are drawing a draft of my end product and gaining info on how to build my robot. The draft that I drew for my end project is a robot that's supposed to have either wheels or tracks (like a tank) or both. The robot might also have an arm and be able to do various things. The one thing that I am most proud of is deciding to model my robot after R2-D2. I decided to model my robot after R2-D2 because of the new Star Wars movie coming out this Christmas and because R2-D2 has always been a robot that has interested me ask a kid so I decided why not model my robot after R2-D2.

The second goal I reached was to gain info on how to build my robot. I achieved this goal by finding this web site called robotshop
here is the link -> http://www.robotshop.com/blog/en/how-to-make-a-robot-lesson-1-3707 this website helped me feel more confident and showed me things that got me to ask myself questions such as do you want wheels or tracks, or, do you want an arm or not. I am looking forward to learning more on how to build my robot but until then. Good bye.
